Burdett & Rawling were established in 1950 by Mr E N Burdett and Mr J R Rawling. At the time all they had to work with was four or five moquette pattern books, three or four leather cloth books and a handcart borrowed from Bladons local furniture store. Compare that to today's plethora of pattern books, hi-tec machinery and administrative aids and you will soon get an idea of what life was like in the 50's.

The company is still owned and managed by the Rawling family. Following in his fathers footsteps Terry Rawling has been joined by his son Chris and daughter Kerry whilst his wife Maureen helps hold everything together in the office.

The Rawling family and all their staff pride themselves on being the third generation of furniture makers and take great pleasure in manufacturing something that people actually want; good quality traditionally built lounge furniture, incorporating the best beech frames and double sprung seat spring systems, with an upholstery service that covers everything from antique restoration, to tailored loose covers.

In recent years the company has expanded considerably and is now able to offer a wide range of furniture which can be manufactured using any one of thousands of soft covering materials, all of which are on show at their Hull Showroom.
